The recently inaugurated state-of-the-art SBR waste water treatment facility built in Kuressaare, Estonia, was presented in the "Environment of Europe" conference held on the September 21-23 in Astana, Kazakstan, as a brilliant example of how old soviet time waste water treatment plants can be efficiently upgraded for the needs and standards of today and tomorrow. Preseco attended the conference as a member of the delegation led by the Finnish Minister of the Environment, Mr. Ville Niinistö. Preseco's customer and the owner of the Estonian SBR facility, Kuressaare Veevärk, was represented by the board member Ain Saaremäel.

"Kazakstan is a big opportunity for us since there is a significant number of waste water plants that need to upgraded", says Mikko Kantero, a board member in Preseco. "Compared to the other ways of cleaning waste waters, our SBR technology offers the operational flexibility and the economical efficiency (savings) needed for upgrading the small and medium size facilities which typically are the most challenging ones and therefore left as the last ones to be renovated. Now this can be changed."

Read a related article at: CleanTech Finland
