Preseco signs a Memorandum of Understanding for Biocarbon™ technology to China

Preseco signs a MOU (Memorandum Of Understanding) during the Chinese business delegations visit to Finland on the 10th of July, 2009.  This is part of the the Finland - China Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum organized by high governmental organizations in Finland and China. This is a significant step in implementing state-of-the-art innovative Biocarbon™ technology in China. Biocarbon™ is an emission-neutral biofuel with the energy value of fossil carbon. Preseco has also opened it´s first Biocarbon™ production plant in Finland.



The contents of the MOU between Preseco Oy and Anneng Thermal Power (Group) Co., Ltd. include establishing a Joint Venture in the province of Hubei, China. The purpose of the Joint Venture is to build Preseco Carboniser Plants producing and selling high quality Biocarbon™. The Joint Venture is formed accordingly: Anneng Thermal Power (Group) Co., Ltd. (49 per cent of the shares) and Preseco Oy (51 per cent of the shares). The ambitious target for the Joint Venture is to be fully operational within the first quarter of year 2010.

The first stage of the MOU includes the construction of a multi-million Preseco Carboniser Demonstration Plant. The capacity of the plant is approximately 16 000 tons of Biocarbon™ per year which is equivalent to 15 MW. In the second stage the Joint Venture will independently build Preseco Carboniser Plants in the province. The need for renewable carbon fuel for Anneng solely is over 1 M tons in a year, worth hundreds of millions of euro´s.

The signing  is part of the Finland – China Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum, organized by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, Ministry of Employment and the Economy of Finland, The Confederation of Finnish Industries EK, The Federation of Finnish Technology Industries, FINPRO, TEKES, Invest in Finland and FECC – Finnish Environmental Cluster for China. H.E. Mr. Gao Hucheng, Vice Minister of Ministry of Commerce of the People´s Republic of China MOFCOM, H.E. Dr. Paavo Väyrynen, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development of Finland and H.E. Mr. Mauri Pekkarinen, Minister of Economic Affairs honour the formal Signing Ceremonies with their presence.

Preseco Carboniser and Biocarbon™

The pressure for renewable-energy-use is growing and in a number of areas the need to change over from fossil fuels to renewables is acute. The use of Biocarbon™ answers the need to increase renewable energy production and cut CO2 emissions rapidly. Preseco Carboniser Plants produce this high-quality Biocarbon™ from a variety of organic materials.

Biocarbon™ is an emissions-neutral biofuel with a superior energy value and very low emissions. Biocarbon™ from a Preseco Carboniser plant can be used in traditional coal power plants without any modifications or new investments in power plant technology. Residual biomass can be brought to market by converting it to Biocarbon™ and can be utilized efficiently in existing power plants while reducing CO2 emissions. One ton of Biocarbon equals to 3,5 tons of CO2.
